Formerly titled Zalcaya, High Priestess embodies the sacred feminine as a vessel of intuition, ritual, and divine order. Drawing from the tarot archetype of the High Priestess and rooted in Afro-diasporic cosmology, the work merges spiritual mystery with material power. The layered textures of oil, hair, and beadwork symbolize the meeting of realms - earthly and ethereal, visible and hidden. The figure stands as guardian of portals between worlds, holding within her form the wisdom of cycles, creation, and the unseen forces that govern existence.
