World of Tarot, Card Deck + Live Performance, 2023

In 2023, I conceived and produced an interdisciplinary show for Artcrawl, bringing together artists and audiences from studio communities in East New York and Ridgewood, Queens. I developed the original concept, designed and constructed a series of costumes, and collaborated with a team of set builders and painters to create a custom environment in which the work was presented. The event combined costume presentation, theatrical staging, and dance-based performance, and was fully documented through photography and video. The resulting images were edited into printed cards and archival materials, reflecting my early ability to lead collaborative teams, build immersive settings, and carry a creative vision from concept through live performance and final documentation.

The Fool’s Journey

This live performance stages a theatrical enactment of the Tarot’s Fool’s Journey, tracing the Fool’s transformation through The Magician, The High Priestess, and The Empress. Through movement, costume, ritual gesture, and sound, the work explores the difficult but necessary lessons of growth, responsibility, and self-knowledge. The performance culminates in a communal dance invoking Eleggua, the West African spirit of the crossroads and messenger between human and divine. By merging Tarot symbolism with African spiritual tradition, the piece creates an embodied meditation on choice, transition, and becoming.

The Major Arcana Tarot Deck

This Major Arcana deck of cards inspired by the Rider-Wilder Tarot deck, but re-imagined through LGBTQA+ lens, with dominantly brown and black cast of characters embodying the various archetypes for each portrait. These cards came out of building live sets, and working directly with community that represents the LGBTQA+ here in Brooklyn New York, below the card designs you can see some of the process images of how the live- performance and card-deck came about.
