01.12.2026 Collage as Image-Making: An In-Person Workshop

Images shape us long before words do.

Collage is one of the most direct ways to work with that power — cutting, arranging, and composing images until something true begins to surface. This in-person collage workshop is an invitation to slow down and engage with images as material, language, and form.

Taking place on Monday evening, January 12, this workshop is focused first and foremost on craft: how to create a visually compelling collage using composition, contrast, rhythm, and restraint. Materials will be provided, and participants will be guided through the process of building a cohesive piece — whether abstract, narrative, poetic, or symbolic.

While collage has long been used as a tool for reflection and intention-setting, this workshop is not framed as a “vision board” class. Instead, it treats collage as a legitimate artistic practice — one that happens to be especially resonant at the beginning of a new cycle.

Participants are welcome to approach the work however they wish:

  • as an introduction to collage

  • as a tactile, offline creative practice

  • as a way to explore desire, memory, or future-facing imagery

  • or simply as an opportunity to make something beautiful with their hands

The timing is intentional. Early January holds a quieter energy — before momentum accelerates, before the year hardens into routine. Monday evening becomes a pause, not a push. A moment to work with images rather than consume them.

This workshop is ideal for:

  • artists and non-artists alike

  • people curious about collage but unsure where to begin

  • those craving an in-person creative experience outside of screens

  • anyone drawn to visual language, aesthetics, and material exploration

You will leave with a completed collage and a deeper understanding of how images can be shaped — not just collected.
